Ahh, Letchworth! What a stunning location for a getaway. Letchworth State Park will melt your heart no matter how long you stay. This scenic wonder spot, known as the Grand Canyon of the East, is packed with natural wonders that will make your camera quiver with excitement.
This captivating location features awe-inspiring cliffs and some of New York's finest waterfalls. The three main falls, known as the Upper, Middle, and Lower Falls, crash through a massive forest- and cliff-lined gorge from the Genesee River.
Visit in the autumn is beautiful. However, during the spring the waterfalls at their most beautiful but due to the snowmelt. Waterfalls are rushing and thundering like crazy. Inspiration Point offers the best overall view.
If you are looking for activates I have tried white water rafting in early spring. Kayaking is also very popular. Hikers can choose among 66 miles of hiking trails. Trails are available for horseback riding, biking, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. Balloons Over Letchworth offers hot air balloon rides – still on my to-do list! Playgrounds and picnic areas are scattered throughout the park. In winter I recommend cross country ski or snowshoeing. If you love, sky gazing during summer night pull out your camera for some impressive shots. You can stay overnight at the camping site for ~ $20 /night.
