If you’re gonna leave your heart in San Francisco, as the song goes, then perhaps you’ll want to tuck it into one of the city’s celebrated historical sites. This post will help you find the perfect nooks and crannies to keep our trip, cool, classic, and ahead of the curve.
Things to do
Golden Gate National Park
Golden Gate Bridge every visitor to the city will want to do. I prefer renting a bike and ride across the bridge to Sausalito while enjoying spectacular views. If you’re not up for the ride back, don’t worry. You can catch the ferry or take a taxi back. In the heart of the park, you’ll forget you’re in the city. Detour is a new app with audio tours that play from your phone
Painted Ladies
Everywhere you look, everywhere you go! There’s a heart… if you grew up watching Full House or loved to binge Fuller House seeing the Painted Ladies of Alamo Square will melt your heart. You will adore these beautiful homes.
Lombard Street
On a 27-degree angle, this famously crooked street features 8 hairpin turns & landscaped flowerbeds. It is the most crooked street in the world. You can walk down the street or take a quick car ride but is always fun to take GoCar Tour to explore this part of the city.
Seaplane Tour / Helicopter Tour
If you are visiting San Francisco just for a short amount of time and still are interested to see the whole city, I recommend a quick helicopter tour or seaplane tour. You get to see San Francisco’s most popular attractions from a new perspective. Also, you get to fly under and over the golden gate bridge, which is really cool.
Alcatraz Island
1.5 miles off the shore of San Francisco is Alcatraz Island, This tiny island was developed as a military fortification, a military prison as well as a federal prison. The island now is a tourist attraction and many people flock here each year to explore the depths of the prison. A ferry at Piers 31-33 will take you to the island. Just remember to make your reservation in advance as they sell out fast.
The Palace Of Fine Arts
Other activities: With so much to do in this amazing city usually weekend is just not enough. If you happen to have more time check make sure you visit these places.
1) Take In The View From Twin Peaks
2) Checkout the Waterfront At Fisherman’s Wharf
3) Wander Amongst The Redwood Trees
4) Spend Time In Ghirardelli Square
5) Watch The San Francisco Giants
Come and explore San Francisco’s amazing culture, historic sites make it a wonderful place to visit. If you’re looking for a girls trip, weekend getaway or just a lively staycation, San Francisco is your place.
