There are thousands of lakes all over the USA, so there's a good chance you're just a hop, skip, and a jump away from one. But not all lakes are created same. some have struck gold in Mother Nature's lottery of natural beauty. Here are some of the most beautiful lakes I saw in the United States.
Lake Tahoe
Lake Tahoe has to be one of the most mesmerizing places I’ve been to date. Ringed by the snow-capped Sierra Nevada Mountains and bathed in an Impressionist’s palette of blues, Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America. The lake’s clarity is so remarkable. During the summertime, I swear it felt like swimming in the Caribbean. During winter, the nearby ski runs offer exhilarating views down to the lake. Read more about Tahoe
Crater Lake
Crater Lake's birth story is inscribed by its nearly circular six-mile diameter. It formed nearly 8,000 years ago when volcanic Mount Mazama blew its top and left a smoldering caldera that would eventually fill with rain and snowmelt. At 1,943 feet, America’s deepest lake is cut off from any incoming streams or rivers, so it remains extraordinarily clear. The visibility ranges from 90 to 100 feet, and sunlight reaches nearly 400 feet below the surface, making it ideal for scuba diving. Two islands emerge from the lake's deep blue surface for an even more dramatic effect. Read More
Lake Placid
In the heart of New York State Lake Placid rests under the shadow of Adirondacks Mountains, whose reflection nearly covers the lake of water. Adirondacks mountain range around Lake Placid is popular for hiking, rock-climbing destinations; both reward hikers with gorgeous views. Fall is particularly lovely, when those slopes erupt in brilliant reds, yellows, and oranges; get an up-close look along one of the 1,000 hiking trails.
Seneca Lake
The Finger Lakes are a group of eleven long, narrow lakes in an area called the Finger Lakes region in New York. Each one is more beautiful than the other is but Cayuga and Seneca lakes are my favourite. Beautiful scenery, breath-taking waterfalls aroud the lake and scenic wineries tucked in every corner around Finger Lakes. Biking, hiking, swimming & so many other activity you can enjoy!
Lake Champlain
Lake Champlain is a natural freshwater lake in North America that lies mostly within the United States' boundaries, but also extends into the Canadian province of Quebec across the Canada–US border.
Stunning natural landscape with plenty of things to see and do, look no further than Lake Champlain. Sunny days of fishing, boating, and swimming. Dockside dining and peak hiking, historic adventures, and farm fresh fun this is the heaven during summer.
